Manager, UI / UX Design
COMPANY
Agilent Technologies is a global leader in life sciences, diagnostics, and applied chemical markets. Their software powers complex laboratory operations for research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and biotech organizations worldwide. I joined through iLab, a startup acquired by Agilent, as the digital group was forming to deliver modern web-based tools for managing and optimizing laboratory operations.
SKILLS
Customer-Centered SaaS Design, Governance & Repeatable Systems, Outcome-Driven UX Metrics • Design Leadership & Strategy • UX Operations • Cross-Functional Collaboration • Design Systems • Research Synthesis • Stakeholder Education • Workflow Optimization • Agile Execution • Team Building • Human-Centered Innovation
SCOPE
When I joined, UX was entirely absent from workflows and often dismissed as cosmetic. Product direction was driven by engineering priorities, resulting in inconsistent, fragmented experiences. My goal: transform UX into a proactive driver that improved usability, accelerated adoption, and built executive trust while establishing a foundation for scale.
LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Embed UX into core product workflows, shifting from reactive fixes to proactive strategy
Educate stakeholders on the business value of human-centered design
Deliver quick wins to build trust and credibility
Establish repeatable patterns and scalable processes to ensure consistency
Make the business case to grow the team from a solo contributor to five
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
1. Scalable Design System
Introduced and scaled a design system across SaaS products and marketing touchpoints — standardizing accessibility, interaction patterns, and brand consistency while enabling faster releases and consistent customer experiences.
2. Usability Gains
Drove a +30 usability score improvement and NPS +22 points, directly reducing churn and strengthening customer satisfaction.
3. New Operations Platform
Designed and launched a modern, web-based operations platform from the ground up, streamlining lab management workflows such as scheduling, experiment tracking, and resource allocation.
4. Cross-Functional Alignment
Unified product and marketing UX through shared patterns and governance, delivering a seamless, end-to-end customer experience and reinforcing brand credibility.
5. Team Growth
Built the business case to expand UX from 1 → 5 team members, securing leadership buy-in through quick wins and data-backed cases that enabled broader impact and faster delivery.
STRATEGY & ACTION
Developed a UI/UX roadmap that prioritized enhancements, clarified ownership, and aligned delivery with engineering timelines
Facilitated multi-day design thinking workshops to spark innovation initiatives in life sciences software
Introduced governance for UI/UX consistency, embedding design reviews into delivery, ensuring every release met agreed standards.
I introduced a scalable design system adopted across both products and marketing, standardizing accessibility, interaction patterns, and visual consistency for a cohesive customer experience. The system was paired with a UI/UX roadmap that prioritized enhancements, clarified ownership, and aligned delivery with engineering timelines. By keeping both adaptable, we maximized impact while maintaining cross-team alignment.
Operations Platform Modernization
Designed and delivered a new web-based operations platform from the ground up, replacing fragmented legacy tools with a unified, modern interface optimized for scientists and lab managers. Improved efficiency in workflows like equipment scheduling, experiment tracking, and resource allocation.
Unified Product & Marketing UX
From post-its to progress: aligned product and marketing experiences through shared patterns and brand consistency, creating a seamless experience across the customer journey and strengthening Agilent’s life sciences brand presence.
