THE CHALLENGE
The Air Force needed a centralized, real-time dashboard to coordinate mission readiness across multiple bases, aircraft, and repair facilities. Existing tools were fragmented and inconsistent, making it difficult to assess status, allocate resources, and respond rapidly.
We were tasked with designing a unified interface that could calculate capability and capacity, support rapid decision-making, and be co-created live during high-stakes sessions with Air Force leadership.
Together, we defined and validated key workflows, prioritization logic, and readiness indicators, ensuring the dashboard delivered clarity, confidence, and real-world utility.
REAL-TIME CO-CREATION UNDER PRESSURE
This was not a traditional design process. I worked on base, in real time, alongside command leaders, medical officers, and operations managers, with my designs projected on a wall-sized display as decisions were debated and made.
I sketched, refined, and iterated live — translating feedback instantly to align the interface with real-world workflows and operational urgency.
To keep designs grounded in user needs, I created personas for the three primary roles:
Node Managers — coordinating shop-level capacity and resources
Repair Network Managers — orchestrating cross-base collaboration and constraints
Command Leadership — maintaining strategic visibility across aircraft and locations
INTERACTION DESIGN & WORKFLOWS
I designed flows and dashboard views that enabled:
Rapid triage of repair needs across F-16, F-15, and A-10 aircraft
Real-time capacity modeling, factoring manpower, parts, and test stand readiness
Clear task prioritization for Node Managers, managing across bases
Command-level oversight with drill-down access to bottlenecks and projections
IMPACT & OUTCOMES
Following live co-creation, I worked with developers, QA, and product leads in agile sprints to deliver a scalable, high-performance tool that met the urgency, precision, and clarity required by the Air Force.
Key outcomes:
✔️ Optimized mission readiness, enabling faster triage, clearer trends, and decisive action
✔️ Delivered real-time capacity insights, integrating manpower, parts, and readiness across bases
✔️ Unified operations by replacing disconnected tools with a single, strategic interface
✔️ Advanced the Repair Network Integration (RNI) initiative with standardized workflows
✔️ Strengthened my ability to think fast, adapt instantly, and lead under pressure
